Karlovy Vary- 650 years of its foundation

The town of Karlovy Vary was founded by Charles IV. in 1358.

• By a legend the Emperor and his hunt founded the place during the course in one of the scamp from nearby tower Loket. During the hunt, one of the hounds started to run after an animal and fell into pool, where hot water burst from the ground. The hunt tasted the hot spring and reported the Emperor Charles IV. , who hurried up with his personal physician. Then he himself used the water on his afflicted leg and sensed assuagement and improvement. Then he directed to built a tower and the settlement of the location of Karlovy Vary
• Afterwards the town of Karlovy Vary became one of the most visited places and has kept its glory since then. Of 79 mineral springs, 13 are controlled and used for drinking cure. One of the best known geyser is The Thermal Spring, which spurt up to 12 m high due to the effect of high pressure and yields 2000 liters of mineral water per minute. The temperature of the water is 72,3°C and makes it the warmest spring of Karlovy Vary. For the use of thermal mineral water are instrumental the traditionally shaped porcelain or glass cups.
• To digest Karlovy Vary thermal mineral water while walking slowly is a part of the cure. For the purpose of calm walks there were built 5 collonades. The collonades are determined for walks around the town during the drinking cure. There are also woods, parks and footpaths lining the town, where they get the title of the most beautiful natural park of the Europe from.
